It is now official Ards & North Down Borough Council policy to engage with the Scottish government to land a bridge linking Scotland and Northern Ireland ‘somewhere on the coast’ of our Borough (although nobody will say where!)
Please click here to sign the petition and send a message to Councillors that you want to SAVE OUR ASSI
I have consistently argued against this Policy as I believe the result would be an environmental disaster for our Borough – not least as our coastline is home to the Outer Ards Area of Special Scientific Interest (ASSI).
Some Councillors consider this of no importance, and one has even gone so far as to say there is an ‘element of humour in the story.’
I don’t think spoiling our environment is even slightly amusing, and if you agree, I hope you will help me reverse the Policy to engage in discussions about this bridge, and sign my Petition to SAVE OUR ASSI.
If a Bridge were to be built, it would be much more practical and less damaging environmentally to land it in Larne where all of the infrastructure required to serve it is alreaedy in place.
